The Maryland Terrapins have Michigan at SECU Stadium in College Park, Maryland for the Terps’ final home game of the 2025 season. With Malik Washington, as their quarterback, the Terrapins freshman will have a tough Michigan team to try to show some progress today.
Maryland will honor 16 seniors before Saturday’s kickoff for their contributions to the program that include Sam Adu, Akindele Dare, Jalil Farooq, Jamare Glasker, Leon Haughton Jr., Alan Herron, Jalen Huskey, Shaleak Knotts, Justyn Martin, Eli Mason, Daniel Owens, Cam Rice, Lavain Scruggs, Octavian Smith Jr., Kaleb Webb, and Isaiah Wright. Unfortunately Washington will be saying goodbye to some of his receivers, and the Terps defense is losing key members of their secondary.
The Terps are 4-6 at his point in the season after starting 4-0. Coach Mike Locksley already got a vote of confidence from Athletic Director Jim Smith and he will return for next season even with the dismal record this season. The Terps 1-6 in the Big Ten conference — and the team suffered three consecutive losses where they led in the 4th quarter. How close would Maryland be to 7-3 if they just made an extra play or two in those close games?
Terps’ QB Washington has recorded 200 or more passing yards in nine games this season, tied with Minnesota’s Athan Kaliakmanis, USC’s Jayden Maiava and Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza for the most such games in the Big Ten. Washington’s 2,294 passing yards through 10 career games rank second by true freshman Power Conference quarterbacks since 2020. Only Cal’s Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele has more (2,518 in 2025). With 216 completions through 10 career games, Washington has the second-most by a Power Conference true freshman quarterback
since 2020. Only Sagapolutele has more (224). Washington also ranks second in the Big Ten and 19th nationally by averaging 21.6 completions per game. Washington’s 13 passing touchdowns this season are tied with Sagapolutele for the most by a true freshman Power Conference quarterback since 2022.
Maryland leads the Big Ten and ranks second nationally with 18 interceptions. Maryland’s defense has snagged an interception in eight straight games, which is tied for the second longest streak in the country with Florida.
Safety Jalen Huskey had Maryland’s lone interception last week at Illinois. Huskey
now leads the team and ranks tied for third in the Big Ten with four interceptions.
The Terrapins are averaging 1.8 interceptions per game after averaging 0.75 last
season. This increase of 1.05 interceptions per game is the fourth largest of any Big
Ten team over the last 30 seasons.

Malik’s a little older than his years in the way he handles things, and best part about it is he’s only going to get better.
